Stick to the footpaths!
Simon Beddows featured in a recent BBC news item about crop damage nationwide resulting from the vastly increased number of walkers in lockdown.
"The crops are our livelihood and your food," Simon says. "If we get a poor harvest as a result of all this damage, we will all end up paying more in the shops."
Tristan Phillimore reports that walkers are "straying off footpaths and onto crops or even just generally trespassing.
"The family and Estate would prefer to take the route of education in order to persuade people to respect the code of the countryside and stick to footpaths and bridleways when taking much-needed exercise.
"I do greatly appreciate that this pandemic has forced us to seek respite where we can and often that is in the form of a walk. The Estate welcomes walkers and there are plenty of footpaths, many of which we maintain and improve."
